Lombok Tengah, NTB –LINGKARAN POLRI.COM Polres Lombok Tengah menerima kunjungan penting dari Tim Asistensi Australian Federal Police (AFP) dalam rangka sosialisasi pencegahan kejahatan transnasional, khususnya penyelundupan manusia (people smuggling), Selasa (12/5/2026).

Central Lombok NTB Central Lombok Police welcomed an important visit from the Australian Federal Police (AFP) Assistance Team as part of a socialization and prevention program against transnational crimes, particularly human smuggling, on Tuesday (May 12, 2026).
Kegiatan ini dihadiri oleh jajaran Divhubinter Polri, Wakil Bupati Lombok Tengah, instansi pemerintah terkait, pejabat utama Polres Lombok Tengah, serta puluhan masyarakat pesisir.
The event was attended by representatives from the International Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police (Divhubinter Polri), the Deputy Regent of Central Lombok, related government agencies, senior officials of the Central Lombok Police, and dozens of coastal community members.
Dalam sambutannya, Kapolres Lombok Tengah AKBP Eko Yusmiarto, S.I.K menyebutkan bahwa dipilihnya Lombok Tengah sebagai lokasi asistensi bukan tanpa alasan. Keberadaan bandara internasional dan pelabuhan menjadikan wilayah ini sebagai gerbang utama masuknya warga asing ke Pulau Lombok, sekaligus memiliki risiko menjadi jalur perlintasan kejahatan lintas negara.
In his remarks, Central Lombok Police Chief AKBP Eko Yusmiarto, S.I.K stated that the selection of Central Lombok as the location for the assistance program was not without reason. The presence of an international airport and seaports makes the region one of the main gateways for foreign nationals entering Lombok Island, while also creating the potential risk of becoming a route for transnational crimes.
“Kegiatan asistensi bersama rekan-rekan dari Australian Federal Police (AFP) dan Divhubinter Polri ini merupakan langkah preventif krusial bagi wilayah kita. Mengingat Lombok Tengah memiliki akses vital berupa bandara dan pelabuhan, potensi wilayah kita dijadikan jalur kejahatan transnasional sangatlah besar,” terangnya.
“This assistance activity together with colleagues from the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and Divhubinter Polri is a crucial preventive measure for our region. Considering that Central Lombok has vital access points such as airports and ports, the potential for our area to be used as a route for transnational crime is very significant,” he explained.
Ia juga menambahkan bahwa kegiatan tersebut bertujuan membangun benteng sinergi antara aparat penegak hukum, pemerintah daerah, dan khususnya masyarakat pesisir.
He also added that the activity aimed to strengthen synergy between law enforcement officers, local government, and especially coastal communities.
“Kami ingin mengedukasi warga agar tidak mudah tergiur oleh bujuk rayu fasilitator penyelundupan manusia. Kesadaran masyarakat adalah kunci utama dalam mencegah wilayah kita digunakan sebagai tempat transit maupun keberangkatan tindak pidana yang mengancam nyawa ini,” ujar Kapolres.
“We want to educate residents so they are not easily tempted by the persuasion of human smuggling facilitators. Public awareness is the main key to preventing our region from being used as a transit or departure point for these life-threatening criminal acts,” said the Police Chief.
Sementara itu, dalam paparannya, perwakilan AFP Mr. Chad Aston mengungkapkan kekhawatirannya terhadap tren peningkatan penyelundupan manusia yang melonjak tajam dalam setahun terakhir. Ia menyoroti bagaimana para fasilitator sering memanfaatkan ketidaktahuan nelayan lokal untuk membawa imigran ilegal menuju Australia.
Meanwhile, in his presentation, AFP representative Mr. Chad Aston expressed concern over the sharp rise in human smuggling activities during the past year. He highlighted how facilitators often exploit the lack of awareness among local fishermen to transport illegal immigrants to Australia.
“Para pelaku tidak peduli dengan nyawa
manusia atau kerugian yang dialami nelayan, mereka hanya mementingkan keuntungan pribadi. Kami hadir untuk memastikan masyarakat tidak terjebak dalam praktik ilegal ini,” tegas perwakilan AFP dalam sosialisasinya.
“The perpetrators do not care about human lives or the losses suffered by fishermen; they only care about personal profit. We are here to ensure that the community does not become trapped in these illegal practices,” stressed the AFP representative during the outreach session.
Senada dengan hal tersebut, Tim Divhubinter Polri juga menekankan bahwa penyelundupan manusia merupakan isu serius yang membutuhkan kerja sama internasional. Masyarakat diminta tetap waspada dan segera melaporkan apabila menemukan indikasi aktivitas mencurigakan di wilayah perairan mereka.
In line with this, the Divhubinter Polri team also emphasized that human smuggling is a serious issue requiring international cooperation. The public was urged to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activities in their coastal waters.
Sebagai bentuk apresiasi dan kepedulian, kegiatan diakhiri dengan pembagian paket sembako dan merchandise kepada 50 warga pesisir yang hadir.
As a form of appreciation and concern, the event concluded with the distribution of basic food packages and merchandise to 50 coastal residents who attended the program.
